Ann Brawley Brown, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

She was born May 11, 1941, to William Kerr Brawley and Mary Margaret Troutman Brawley of Mooresville, N.C. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry Wayne Brown; her son, Christopher Karl Brown (Ginny); her sister, Marilyn Settlemyer (Steve); two brothers, William Kerr Brawley II (Nancy) and Robert Troutman Brawley (Vicki); and three grandchildren, Anna Gardner Brown, Ruth Elisabeth Brown, and William Henry Brown.

Ann retired from the Virginia Beach School System after 28 years of service. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed traveling the world, visiting every continent except Antarctica. Upon retirement, Ann moved back to Mooresville and was actively involved in helping curate Mooresville’s history for the Mooresville Museum. She has been an active member of the Methodist Church all her life and was a current member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius, where she sang in the choir and taught Vacation Bible School. Ann loved history and was a former officer and member of the DAR and the UDC. Reading was one of her greatest delights and she enjoyed her local book club, the Classy Chicks.

A Visitation will be held at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. A celebration of Ann’s life will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius on Saturday at 11 a.m. A Graveside Ceremony will be at 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Mooresville.

Memorials may be made in Ann’s name to either the Mooresville Christian Mission or Mt. Zion UMC.
