Fred Timothy Rinehardt, 93, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully on October 20, 2022, at Cadence Assisted Living in Mooresville.

Fred was born on September 5, 1929, in Mooresville to the late Claude Melvin Rinehardt and Zula Leoma Cox Rinehardt. Fred graduated from Mooresville Senior High School, proudly served in the United States Army and then married the love of his life, Patricia Souther Rinehardt, who preceded him in death in March of 2018. They enjoyed 64 wonderful years together. Fred worked as a supervisor at Burlington Industries in Mooresville for 36 years until his retirement in 1992. He was also a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church in Mooresville.

Fred coached youth football for the Barger Bandits for many years and loved each and every player he coached. Some Saturdays, he would find his team pitted against a league opponent coached by his brother, Frank “Red” Rinehardt, fueling a good-natured family rivalry. After coaching, he became an avid, competitive golfer and made numerous friends and memories during those outings and tournaments. After retirement from Burlington, Fred spent 25 years working part-time at the Mooresville Municipal Golf Course. Later in life, Fred became an ardent Alabama Crimson Time fan and even traveled to their home games in Tuscaloosa on occasion.

Left to cherish those wonderful memories are his daughter, Pam Rinehardt Robbins (Carl) of Mooresville, and his granddaughters, Lesley Craig Bays (Ronnie) of Indian Trial and Jennifer Patricia Craig of Kannapolis. In addition to his grandchildren, Fred is survived by three great grandchildren, Chloe, Maddie and Cooper Bays. Fred was also very close to his many nieces and nephews. They affectionately referred to him as Uncle Freddie.

The family would like to thank Beth Haslett, Jen Lei Home Care of Mooresville, Cadence Assisted Living Facility of Mooresville and Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County for their care of our loved one.

There will be a private graveside service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be given to Central United Methodist Church, 214 N Academy Street, Mooresville NC or Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
