Nancy Armstrong Kelly, 72, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at her residence.

She was born on February 1, 1950, in York County, S.C., to the late Walter and Nannie Millen Armstrong. Nancy loved working with children and was a retired director for the Before and After School Program (BASP) in Mooresville. She received the BASP Teacher of the Year award in 2009 and 2014. Nancy was a member of Mooresville First Baptist Church, where she was very active in the missions program. She enjoyed making wreaths, reading, crocheting, and painting ceramics.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Putnam and Evelyn “Lucille” Morgan; and brother, Robert “Bobby” Armstrong.

She is survived by her husband, Jerold “Jerry” Kelly; children, Brooke Leonard (Dale), Lori DeMauro (Greg), Dr. Caroline Kelly, and Jason Kelly (Lynne); brothers, James “Jim” Armstrong, Bill Armstrong, Kenneth Armstrong, Jack Armstrong, and Mack Armstrong; sister, Betty Cook; grandchildren, Tara Pawlyk (Leizl), Darren DeMauro, Brianna “Noelle” Leonard, Dean DeMauro (Cassandra), Harrison Leonard, and Annalise DeMauro; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and several extended family members.

A Celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, at Fieldstone Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, with Eddie Karriker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
