Joann Canipe Hastings, 76, passed away on February 22, 2022, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, in Forsyth County, N.C. She was born January 3, 1946, to Horace Wilford Canipe and Edith Mae Carpenter Canipe of Catawba County, N.C.

Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight B. Hastings; daughter, Jodie Hastings Brittian; sister, Catherine Isenhour; and brothers, Bobby Canipe and Wilford Canipe.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Michael E. Hastings (Denise) and Marvin Hastings (Jennifer); daughter, Joy Lawter (Jeffrey); and son-in-law Dennis Brittian. She is also survived by grandchildren, Lekeshia Lassiter (Todd), Kristy Hastings, Brandon Hastings, Beth Estes (Aaron), David Hastings, Tyler Hastings, Landon Hastings, Alexander Lawter, Wyatt Lawter, and Jasa Lawter; great grandchildren, Titianna Lassiter, Adrianna Lassiter, Kianna Lassiter, Malachi Lassiter, Mia McCurdy, Ava McCurdy, and Liam Estes; along with a brother, James Canipe (Pam); and sisters: Lela Childers and Daphine Swain (Tom).

Family will receive friends Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. for visitation, with funeral service held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jacob Scott officiation. All services are to be held at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery.
