Joanne Howard Dingler, affectionately known as “GG” or “Aunt Jo,” went to her heavenly home on Thursday afternoon, October 27, 2022, reuniting with her loving husband Gus. Our hearts are broken but knowing they are together again is such a blessing to us.

Joanne was born on November 15, 1940, in Mooresville, N.C., to William L. and Zula B. Howard. She lived in Mooresville her entire life attending school in Mooresville. She married the love of her life, Gus, on February 15, 1958, and enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his passing in April 2020. Her work career was with Elox Company in Davidson for over 43 years. She enjoyed traveling, especially baseball trips. Whether for Spring Training or MLB trips, she enjoyed them with Gus and grandson Jeremy. Disney trips with granddaughter Jessica were also a highlight. She enjoyed NASCAR as she had many long lasting friendships with drivers and their families.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, William and Zula, her husband Gus; her brother, Bill Howard; her son-in-law, Jimmie L. Farrington; and a special person she counted as a son, Kevin Smith.

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Sissy (Sharon) D. Farrington; her son, Rickie H. Dingler and wife Pam; her grandson, Jeremy H. Dingler and wife Tiffany and their two children, her great-grandchildren, Addison and Cole; granddaughter, Jessica E. Dingler and her boyfriend, Coty Edwards; step-granddaughter, Khristin Meyers and David. A Sister, Gay Schronce and sister-in-law Linda Howard; a special granddaughter, Nicole S. Farnsworth and husband Russ and their children Levi (who she has kept since he was six weeks old), Luke and Evan. GG counted these as great grands, along with the other two she and Pappy had a nickname as The Fabulous Five. She also had many nieces and nephews she loved endlessly.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A Service will be on Monday October 31, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Shearer Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Steve Stout officiating with burial in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.

Thank You Momma for always loving us and being the biggest Cheerleader in all of our Lives!
