Joseph “Joey” Ewing Jenkins, 42, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C. He was born March 12, 1980, to the late Lee Jenkins and Judy (Via) Wilhelm.

Joey is survived by his three children, Justin, Allison, and Branden Jenkins; three brothers, Walter “Pete”, Tony, and Paul Jenkins; two sisters, Laurie Small (Ronnie), and Emily Jenkins; numerous nieces and nephews, Kay, Samantha, Matt, David, Heather, Lisa, Mason, and Maelee; and significant other, Natasha Kirby.

Joey loved eating mustard and chips, listening to 1980’s R&B and country music, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved to pressure wash and paint. Joey enjoyed playing sports, especially basketball. His favorite saying was, “Everything’s stupid.” Beating Mario Brothers on Nintendo was no problem for Joey. Above all, his children and family always came first.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randall Macon and Eddie Karriker officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
