Mr. Kelvin Jermaine Hairston, 47, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on November 22, 1974. He was the son of the late Bennie Howard Whiteside and Tommyette Redmon Whiteside. He departed this life on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at a residence in Taylorsville, N.C.

Kelvin attended Mitchell Community College and was employed by Carpenter Labor as a machine operator.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael “Timmy” Hairston.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his wife, Donna Gibbs Hairston; seven brothers, Victor Hairston (Dayqueena Smith), Desmond Whiteside, Derrick Turner, Perry Hairston Anthony Peet, Terrence Peet, and Thomas Redmon; two sisters, Sharon Bailey (Eric Mull) and Monja Hairston; six stepchildren, James “J.R.” Hargrove Jr., Danielle, William, Martha, Maranda, and Jordan; eight grandchildren; special friend, Sandra Sherrick; and a host of nieces, including two special nieces, Jessica Bailey and Corry Bailey, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Rutledge & Bigham Mortuary, Statesville, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Tawanna Myers will officiate, and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery, Statesville.
