Mary Murdock Warren, 93, of Cleveland, N.C., entered the gates of her heavenly home on Monday, February 28, 2022. Born on March 18, 1928, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Murdock and Annie Overcash Murdock Bostain.

Mrs. Warren is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Warren Woodfin and husband Donald of Statesville; a grandson, Christopher “Chris” Woodfin and wife Courtney of Raleigh; a granddaughter, Heather Woodfin Ramsey and husband Shane of Valdese, N.C.; and great granddaughters, Hope Ramsey, and Mary, Ashley, and Samantha Woodfin. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Harkey, and brother, Jim Murdock, and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, David Calvin Warren, and her four daughters, Wanda Sue Warren, Brenda Kay Warren, Patricia Faye Warren and Carol Renee Warren. She was also preceded by brothers, Albert Murdock, Ben Murdock, John Murdock, Norman Murdock, Jerry Murdock, and Lawrence Murdock; half-brothers, Freddie Murdock, Lake Murdock, Tom Murdock, Robert Murdock; and half-sister, Ola Mae Bass.

Affectionately known as “Aunt Mary” by friends and extended family or “Nanny” by her two grandchildren and four great granddaughters, she will be most remembered for her sacrificial love and care of others. Her cooking abilities are legendary, often feeding masses of farmhands for lunch and dinner after working in the fields herself. Her dedication and love for her family and church were only exceeded by her dedication and love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. We grieve the loss of a treasure so unique and special, but we rejoice in knowing she is experiencing painless joy and happiness in the home God Himself has prepared for her in heaven.

The family wants to thank all those who took time to visit her at Autumn Care Rehab Center, where she was battling pneumonia. They would also like to give special thanks to Richard Keller and Myrtle Warren Keller for the loving care they gave her in her last years.

Services celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Cleveland First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Dancy and Rev. Kestler Ruth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Prior to the services, the family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Murdock, Freddie Murdock, Robert Murdock, Jay Murdock, Scott Murdock and Greg Murdock. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Murdock and Johnny Murdock.
