Mary Whitlow Hinson, 89, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on May 3, 2022. She was born on February 2, 1933, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late H.H. and Grace Hartsoe Whitlow.

Mary graduated from Mooresville High School in 1951. She married her loving husband Jim on December 2, 1954. Mary worked for many years as a weaver at Burlington Industries. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mooresville, where she faithfully served. She loved to travel with her friends from church. Mary also loved to listen to gospel music, especially Bill Gaither. She enjoyed doing puzzles and going out to eat with her friends. She was always considered the chauffeur for her group. She was a wonderful mother and was deeply loved by her daughter and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim Hinson; brothers, Everette, Cleveland, John, Clyde, and Marvin Whitlow; and her precious fur babies, Cotton, Phoebe and Pierre.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Hinson Christie; sister-in-law, Gail Hinson Price; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Mary Hinson; several nieces and nephews; and adopted daughter, Robin Griffis.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home and Crematory with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Hicks and Don Blake officiating. Burial will be private.
