Raymond Wayne Gill Jr., 80, of Mooresville, N.C., left this physical realm on November 3, 2022.

Raymond worked 30 years for the FDA in Washington, D.C., as a Deputy Director. He started his career with FDA as a biochemist and received numerous awards and commendations.

He loved sailing and scuba diving and exploring the history and cultures of his many travels around the world. He loved to tell stories of his travels and making them teaching moments. He never stopped learning. He was a very giving and devoted brother and son who accepted the responsibility of caring for his mother when she was ill. He enjoyed time spent entertaining family and friends, cooking, and trying new recipes. Music was a central theme in the family and dancing kept him young. He would remind us all to “Accentuate the Positive and Eliminate the Negative”.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Wayne Gill Sr.; mother, Grace Frances Hoover; and brother, Larry Allen Gill.

He is survived by his two sisters, Dawn Irene Vance and Debra Lynn Schreider; and brother, Timothy Lee Gill.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to neighbors and friends who came to see him, and to all the Hospice nurses, physicians and supportive care that was provided. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
