Billy Jude McAlpin, 18, of Statesville, N.C., left this life on the morning of April 15, 2023, within a split second. He died doing what he loved, skating on his skateboard, while listening to his headphones on his way to work.

Jude was born on December 1, 2004, to his Best Friend and Mom, Angie McAlpin. Jude was a senior at West Iredell High School who was looking forward to graduating and starting his life’s journey and exploring his passions. He was a creative soul who was just beginning to grow in his musical talents. He loved soaking in the creative talents of others and often could be found at Red Buffalo, 33⅓ Records, or other music venues downtown. He enjoyed his skateboard and the freedom it brought him and often had it with him. He loved being outdoors and was thrilled to be working at Larkin Golf Course, where he always said that he was his Boss’ right-hand man. Jude loved his friends and loved his family. He was the sweetest soul and was definitely one of a kind; and he always stood for the underdog.

Jude was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bobby and Freda McAlpin. He was named after one of his favorite people in the entire world, Billy McAlpin, his great-grandfather who passed when Jude was seven years old.

Those left to hold Jude in their hearts for the rest of eternity include, Derek Studevent, step-dad; Alyissa McAlpin, sister; Kade McAlpin, brother; Bobby McAlpin, uncle; Jessica “Sassy” McAlpin, aunt; Charlie Pridgen, nephew; Sharon Jones, mamaw; cousins Calob, Blake, Hagen, Brevan, Abby, Isaac and Madilyn; and his Godmother, Stacey Fagan.

A celebration of Life was held on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Red Buffalo Brewing.

His Mom prefers donations to be made in Jude’s honor to the Iredell Arts Council or 33⅓ Records.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.
