Mr. Clifton Barry Murdock was born in Iredell County on September 25, 1958. He was the son of the late Ferg Monroe Murdock and Mary Peet Murdock Lazenby. He departed this life on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Clifton was married to the love of his life, Tara Elaine Dulin Murdock, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Grace Gaither Murdock; maternal grandparents, Fred and Della Holmes Peet; and three brothers, James Murdock Sr., Fredrick Murdock and Craig Murdock.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his wife, Tara Murdock of the home; one son, Barron Jerod (Sha’Beth) Dulin of Statesville; one daughter, Lametris Yvett Dulin of Statesville; two brothers, Artis William Murdock and Larry Murdock, both of Statesville; three sisters, Barbara Knox, Gaynell Murdock and Gilda Murdock, all of Statesville; three brothers-in-law, Curtis (Stephanie) Reid, Barry Reid and Keith Reid; one sister-in-law, Peggy Murdock of Statesville; four granddaughters, Yasmeen Culbreath, Chantaieya Dulin, Danasia Dulin, and J’Kyla Miller, all of Statesville; one grandson, Amontae White of Mooresville; two great grandsons, Mekhi Turner and Richard Phelps Jr., both of Statesville; one great granddaughter, Avi’Yona Dulin of Statesville; special friends, Walter Young Jr of Hilton Head, S.C., Lea Rucker of St. Louis, Mo., James Rucker, Jay Streeter and JaRoyed Morrison, all of Statesville; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church. Pastor Jamie Jackson will officiate. Mr. Murdock will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 11:30 a.m.
