Ella Sue Caudill Miller, 84, of Statesville, N.C., passed away at her home on Monday, July 17, 2023.

Mrs. Miller was born in Ashe County, on June 7, 1939, the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Caudill and Emma Rose Caudill. Sue was a graduate of Jefferson High School and had been married to her beloved husband, Dennis Miller, for more than 65 years. She was a sales clerk with Woolworth Department Store and an active member of Concord Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder. Sue was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, whom she loved dearly. Sue was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ! She taught her family to love Him as well.

Along with her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Jerry Caudill; her sister, Linda Caudill Roten; and her brothers-in-law, Pete Ernst and Jim Walker.

Those left to cherish the life and legacy of Ella Miller include her husband, Dennis, her son, Dr. Michael (Pam) Miller; her daughter, Karen O’Keefe; her grandchildren, Matthew (Brittany) Miller, Krystle (Zack) Smith, Kristen (Nick) O’Keefe, Dr. Andrew (Mikayla) O’Keefe, and Karena (Deante) Scott; her great grandchildren, Finnlee, Farrah, McCoy, River, Brant, Bodie, Ridge, Timber, Ayla, Kayden, and Kailani; her sisters, Shirley Walker, Grace Ernst, and JoAnn (Russ) Phinder; her brother-in-law, Ernest Roten; sister-in-law, Betty Caudill; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for the near future and will be announced by Troutman Funeral Home.

The family extends special thanks to all of Sue’s healthcare providers, especially Christy Vance who took excellent care of her and her daughter Karen, who was always there making sure her mother’s needs were met.
