Frederick “Fred” Lee Bradbury, 80, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Fred was born on November 26, 1942, to the late Buford William and Mildred Pettrey Bradberry in Princeton, W.Va.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 48 years, Linda Carol Brown Bradbury; and sister, Norma Jean Hutchens of Virginia.

Fred is survived by his only child, Janet Bradbury (Ricky Tucker); brothers, Ronald (Jean) Bradberry of Bastian, Va., and Larry Bradberry of Elkins, W.Va.; sister, Sue Heljenek of South Hampton, N.J.; and six nieces and six nephews.

Fred was a graduate of Matoaka High School in West Virginia. He married Linda Carol Brown on September 5, 1964, and they spent 48 years together until her death on September 12, 2012. Fred was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Burlington Industries, and he enjoyed flea markets and old cars.

The family would like to thank special friend, Dan McLelland, who spent hours talking with Fred and going to flea markets and car shows with him. The family deeply appreciates his friendship, and all he has done for Fred.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 1  p.m. at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dale Gryder officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred’s honor to Hospice of Iredell County.
