George R. Smith Jr., 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 2, 2023. He was born and raised in Folsom, N.J., where he worked for many years in the family business of heavy highway construction.

George was predeceased by grandmother Katherine Schmickel and his parents Mr. & Mrs. George R. Smith Sr. He is survived by loving wife of 44 years, Mary Ann K. Smith; children Joseph “Bucky” Kell (Kendall), JoAnn Sobolusky Dolson, Sandra Jo Kell, George R. Smith III “G.R.” (Stacey), and Victoria “Tori” DeLaurentis (Joseph). He was Pop-Pop to his grandchildren, Bobby, Scottie, Paige, Gallina, Kerstin, Lenny, Josh, Shannon, Kayley, Taylor, Joey, Nicholas George, and Carson George.

From a young age, he shared an inseparable bond with his father, which started a generational love of sports. George Jr. was an avid Philadelphia Flyers, Eagles, Phillies, and NASCAR fan. As a devoted father, George Jr. was well known for his passion for auto racing and unwavering support of both of his sons on the racetrack. He was happiest when at the track and when surrounded by his family. He traveled extensively to watch his son play ice hockey. Having his large family all in the same place filled his heart with joy. In his later years, George Jr. resided in North Carolina with his wife, son, George III, loving daughter-in-law Stacey and their two children.

George Jr. loved his wife, children, and grandchildren unconditionally. He is most remembered as a hard worker and a kind and loving man who would help anyone. He will be greatly missed. “3 to 1.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third Street, Hammonton, NJ 08037. Burial will be private.
