Jay Ambrose Parker, 88, was born February 13, 1935, in Taylorsville, N.C. He passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023.

He was one of eight children. He was a member of Hunter Acres Baptist Church in Charlotte and loved gospel music and socializing with people. He retired from Parks Heating and Air.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Parker of Forest City, N.C. He is also survived by his sisters, Margie Morrison (Donald) of Sylvia, N.C., and Phyllis Henry (Chris) of York, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin Earl Parker and Virginia Gains Parker; brother, Cecil Parker; sisters, Marcell Moore, Pauline Poor, Mary Lee Beckham, and Lucille McFee; and wives, Retha Kerley Parker, Charlotte Dawkins Parker, and Carrie Faires Parker.

Survivors include stepdaughter, Janie Stephens (Mike) of Mooresville, N.C.; stepson, Joe Van Faires of Hickory Grove, S.C.; stepchildren, Freddie Faires (Deborah) of Hickory Grove, S.C., and Jimmy Faires of Statesville, N.C.; and step great grandson, Charlie Faires.

The family would like to thank the employees of the Citadel/Glenwood Nursing Center in Mooresville for their kindness over the last few years and Hospice of Lake Norman. Special Thank you to Timothy, his roommate, for always looking out for Jay.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date. His final resting place will be Rocky Face Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiddenite, N.C.
