Ms. Jo Carolyn Morrison, 89, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on October 25, 1934, to the late James Lonnie “Lon” Morrison and Mary Magdalene Sherrill Morrison. She departed this life on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C.

Jo attended Iredell County Schools. Throughout her life she was employed with various businesses, including McNeir Dillon, Diana Shop Clothing Store, Belk, and Spainhour’s, where she was a sales clerk and a seamstress. She spent time designing her own wardrobe. Recently, she enjoyed planting, taking care of her flowers, coloring and doing word search puzzles, while listening to her favorite singing group, The Gaithers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by ten sisters, including her twin who passed at birth, Connie M. Morrison, Lula M. Watts, Lelia M. Tatum, Clorine Morrison, and her twin sister, Margie M. Pegram, Nevanna M. Waddell, Anna Morrison, and Rosa Sherrill; and six brothers, Marine, Robert, Roscoe, Omar, Boyd, and Clyde Morrison.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Joan Morrison, and Annie Morrison, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Reverend Dr. Dietrich Danner will be officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church, and burial will follow in the Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
