Nancy Grace Tharp Walker, 62, of Cornelius, N.C., and formerly of Mooresville, N.C., peacefully passed away on October 13, 2023, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville. It was a beautiful sunny day, and the sky was a perfect Carolina Blue.

A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 at 3 p.m. in the chapel at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Nancy was such a kind, loving and wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, and her family meant everything to her. She was born in Lyons, Ga., on March 8, 1961, and was the daughter of Ev Tharp and her beloved late father, Jack Tharp. She grew up in Charlotte, N.C., and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene. After completing an internship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, she began her career in Atlanta, Ga., with the Sugarman Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice, and later, after moving to Mooresville, she continued to practice with McNulty and Dancusse General Dentistry in Charlotte. She was beloved by her patients, and she loved each of her patients even more.

Nancy was married for 26 years to the love of her life and best friend, the late Will Walker. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Evelyn “Evie” Walker McMahan and husband Ryan and cherished little grandsons, Walker and Thomas, and special grandsons, Bransen, Jack, and Braylen; her beloved mother, Evelyn “Ev” Tharp; loving sisters, Frances Tharp and Margaret Tharp Mueller (Greg); nephew, Gregory Mueller; and special sister, Fran Pughsley (Sissa). Survivors also include stepdaughter, Savanna Wheeler and husband Robbie; stepson, Jason Walker; Nancy’s dear aunt, Barbara Meadows; and many dear cousins.
