Mrs. Peggy Lee Jackson, 69, passed from this life the afternoon of November 13, 2023 at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., following an extended illness.

She was born in Bertie County, N.C., on November 10, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Lee and Francis Jeanette Lee Bellamy.

She attended elementary school at John B. Bond School in Lewiston, N.C., and secondary school at D. Matt Thompson High School in Statesville, N.C. She graduated with her diploma from Mitchell Community College. She was first employed by Kewaunee Scientific, and then by Clark Components and eventually Dana Corporation in Statesville. At Clark Components, she met the love of her life, her husband, Mr. Andrew Jackson, who preceded her in death. She was last employed with Engineered Sintered Components (ESC) in Troutman, N.C. Her career in manufacturing totaled over 30 years before she retired due to her health challenges. She loved to travel, eat out, watch movies, read books, and visit with friends. She had a keen memory and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She attended Community Missionary Baptist Church and was formerly a member of Davidsonville Baptist Church in Statesville as a young adult.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Earnest Lee, Enos Lee, Franklin Scarfice Lee, Clinton Lee, Roy Lee and Earnhart Lee; and three sisters, Clara Lee, Dorothy Lee Bunch, and Wilma Lee Hendricks.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her son, Shahidi Williams Sr.; her daughter, Andrea Jackson; and one grandson whom she raised as her own son, Shahidi Williams II; four other grandsons, Andre Jackson, Isaiah Williams, Shahidi Williams III and Angelo Jackson; and two granddaughters, Assunta (Shauna) Williams and Goldyn Williams. She is also survived by one sister, Elizabeth Lee Gaither of Troutman; a step-brother, Charles (Bay Bro) Bellamy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
