Robert “Bob” E Ward Jr., 70, of Troutman, N.C., passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Novant Health Presbyterian in Charlotte, N.C.

Bob is the son of the late Robert E Ward Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Ward, also brother of the late Diane Berry.

Bob’s pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy J. Ward and their dog, Bailey “The Peanut” Ward; his sons, Robert “Rob” E. Ward III (San Francisco, Calif.) and Mathew S. Ward and wife Aimee B. Ward (Huntersville), daughters, Saryn and Charlotte, and stepdaughter, Amy C. Hawkins (Gastonia). Also surviving are his stepmom, Anne Ward (Monroe Township, N.J.), his brother, Chris and wife Robin Ward (E. Setauket, N.Y.), and nephews, Michael, Nick, JC and their families. Bob was blessed with a stepfamily he loved dearly, including his step grandchildren (of Amy), Avery, Victoria, and Michael, and step great grandchildren Caroline, Beckham, Cameron, Aubree, Ella, Kensley and Grace.

Bob was a proud alumni of The Ohio State University and graduated as a Mechanical Engineer. He also received a patent for a new and useful invention, which is currently in use to this day. He has worked for many well established businesses, and was currently working for Rollon/Timken Corporation, where he will be sorely missed. He enjoyed any and all projects/maintenance in his new home. Bob was an avid reader, and it was not uncommon for him to finish a book in a matter of a few days. He was loved and admired by many, and was a mentor to all. Bob was the epitome of a good man. We are all devastated by his loss, and our memories of Bob will last a lifetime.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held Saturday, May 27, at 3 p.m. at Troutman Funeral Home. Visitation is from 2 to 3 p.m. with service to follow with Pastor David Tucker officiating. Refreshment will be available following the service.

Special thank you to the nursing staff at Novant Health Presbyterian, Charlotte, for taking excellent care of Bob and his loved ones.
