Ms. Susan Louise Rucker, 76, was born in Hartwell, Ga., on August 27, 1947, to the late Ora “RD” Rucker and Vadilue Craig Rucker. She departed this life on November 8, 2023, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.

Louise graduated from Unity High School and was a member of the First Resurrection Church of God. At one time, she was employed as a weaver in a factory. She enjoyed watching TV and especially loved watching westerns.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenny “Pop” Smith; and siblings, Jerry Rucker, Lucious Rucker, Maddie Rucker, and Austin Rucker.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life two sons, Kendrell Stevenson and Coco Smith; a brother, Donald (Shirley) Rucker; her niece and caregiver, Sheila Polk; nephews, Charles Polk and Anthony Rucker; special friend, Omega; and a host of nieces, and nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Bishop Lonnie E. Gray will be officiating and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
