William Jay Todd, 81, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. 

He was born on June 1, 1942 in Camden, N.J,, to the late Seldon and Helen Moore Todd, and was raised in Amherst, Va. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Canal Zone. He retired from Eastman Kodak and then Bausch & Lomb in Rochester, N.Y., before moving to Mooresville, N.C., in 2002. He gave his all to the church and his community, doing whatever he could to help out; whether it was working on Walk Through Bethlehem or giving his time and many talents to lend a helping hand. He was able to find an outlet for his passion of building things and service to his community with Habitat for Humanity, where he received numerous awards. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them, especially at their Cottage on Keuka Lake.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Seldon Page Todd Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Mainor Todd; children, Deborah Todd, Rebecca Smith (Thomas), and Jay Todd; sister, Mary Todd-Singh; and grandchildren, Patrick, Lauren, and Micah Smith.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Mooresville.
