Alfred “Al” Gerald Rotondi Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and cherished member of the community, passed away on May 4, 2024, at the age of 99 at the Liberty Lane Hospice House in Salisbury, N.C. He was born on October 27, 1924, in Newark, N.J.

Al was a former resident of Berkeley Heights, N.J., and Bethlehem, Pa. He and his wife Joan have resided in Cornelius, N.C., for the past 12 years. He was a graduate of Rutgers University and earned his Master’s Degree from Seton Hall University. Al was a 6th Army World War II veteran, having served as a corporal in the Medic Unit. He worked as a biology teacher and guidance counselor in Irvington, N.J. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, N.C.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan Rotondi; daughters, Jean Feely of Berkeley Heights, N.J., and fiancé Steve Schiebler, and Kerry Bianchi and husband Jess of Davidson, N.C.; grandchildren, Declan, Daniel, and Kieran Feely and Camryn and Matthew Bianchi. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Rizzolo, and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Josephine Rotondi, and his sister, Beatrice Resciniti.

Al will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and unwavering support for his family and friends. His impact on the lives of those he touched will forever be felt.

Funeral services to honor and celebrate Al’s life will include a Mass at St. Therese Catholic Church on May 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. followed by a Graveside Service at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Prior to the services, there will be a time for friends and family to pay their respects at St. Therese Catholic Church at 10 a.m. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May his soul find peace and may his legacy continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched.
