Edward Arnold “Butch” Curlee, 76, of Mooresville, N.C., commenced his spiritual journey on February 1, 2024.

He was born January 9, 1948, in Iredell County to the late Robert Lee Curlee and Addie Mae Goforth Curlee.

Butch grew up on a dairy farm in Cleveland, N.C., where the rigorous daily duties instilled a strong work ethic that followed him all his life. He attended West Rowan High School and later Mitchell Community College. He spent most of his career at Burlington Industries, where his long hours working in the weaving department were ultimately rewarded with various management roles. When textiles moved overseas, he restructured his career and began working at FedEx Ground in Charlotte, N.C. During his post-retirement years, he worked part-time for O’Reilly Auto Parts in Mooresville, a job he truly enjoyed. Butch was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mooresville for approximately 50 years.

He was unabashedly saved by the grace of Jesus Christ, and he truly relished the communion of friendships he had with his church brothers and sisters. He was an usher for nearly two decades and was known for always showing up early and being eager to serve in whatever capacity he was asked.

Butch’s greatest accomplishment is marrying his wife of 55 years, Linda, who survives and deeply misses him. His children, Lisa Brewer (Jim) and Ed Curlee (Jennifer), also survive. He was blessed with two grandchildren whom he loved very much, Ashlei Pangle and Addison Curlee. He has another grandchild due in July. His three great-grandchildren, Emma, Elaina, and Emelia also provided him with much joy and light. His brother Rick Curlee (Jane) and many treasured nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Curlee; sisters, Colleen Johnson and Mary Cashion, and nephew, Kevin Curlee.

The Curlee family will receive friends at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home on Monday, February 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral proceedings will be at Southside Baptist Church in Mooresville on Tuesday, February 6, at 2 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 525 S. Broad Street, Mooresville, NC 28115.

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home and Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the Curlee family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.cavin-cook.com.
