Mable Clair Rye Fleming passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at TerraBella Salisbury, N.C. Mable was preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Renee Meade Beck; her parents, Robert J. Rye and Ida Mae Crouse Rye; four sisters, Gladys, Madeline, Ester, and Joann; and five brothers, Robert Harry, Raymond, Jackie, Eddie, and Jimmy. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Roosevelt Meade, and her second husband, Robert Irving Fleming.

She was educated in the Tazewell County, Va., school system and at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in North Carolina. After becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse, she worked at Iredell Memorial Hospital for 21 years in Medical Surgery and in the Emergency Department.

She is survived by one sister, Gracie; son, Larry Rodney Meade of Opelousas, La.; granddaughter, Jessica Allen and her husband Kevin; two great-grandsons, Peyton Allen, who was the love of her life, and Caleb Allen, whom she adored; step-daughter, Rosemary Durbeck of E. Berlin, Pa.; and step-granddaughters, Debbie, Karen, and Sandy.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, February 7, 2024, at Nicholson Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. with Musical Selections and Scripture Readings beginning at 7:30 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va.
