Wilfred Oscar Hawes, 69, of Mount Ulla, N.C., passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on January 18, 1955, in Connecticut to the late Milton and Glenna McDowell Hawes. Mr. Hawes owned and operated Massey Septic Tank for over 30 years. He was a member of Back Creek Presbyterian Church in Mount Ulla.

Mr. Hawes was a kindhearted and simple man. He enjoyed fishing, showing horses, motorcycles and most of all spoiling his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Dixon Hawes; and brothers, Harold Hawes and Milton E. Hawes II.

He is survived by his daughters, Fran Hawes and Jessie Graham (Chris); grandchildren, Dylan, Randi Leigh, Rylee Jo, and Rachel; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, at Back Creek Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Thrailkill and Rev. Eddie Graham officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Back Creek Presbyterian Church, 2145 Back Creek Church Rd, Mount Ulla, NC 28125.
