Firefighters from Troutman, Wayside and Shepherds fire departments responded to a house fire on Winford Road in Troutman at 10:22 a.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the single-story structure. Crews stretched one line and made an aggressive interior attack on the fire, quickly knocking it down and preventing it from spreading.

South Iredell firefighters were called to the scene with their air van to fill air bottles. Iredell County EMS personnel also responded to assist. The structure sustained heavy damage, but no injuries were reported.

The Red Cross was called to assist the family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
