William Alexander Shinn, 79, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House.

He was born February 12, 1945, in Mecklenburg County to the late Clint Shinn and Margaret Shinn Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harry Lee Shinn and Charlie Shinn, and a sister, Marveen Whitesides.

He was a long-time brick mason with T & S Masonry. William enjoyed hunting trips, especially to Gretna, Va., Colorado, and Kansas. He enjoyed the rodeo, Atlanta Braves, John Wayne movies, and “old school” NASCAR.

William is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cynthia “Cindy” Nantz Shinn; sons, Stephen Shinn (Jo Beth), and Jamie Shinn (Wendy); grandchildren, Blaine Shinn, Tori Shinn (Bobby Erickson), Kassidy Shinn, Joseph Shinn, Britney Alexander, and Grayson Alexander; sisters, Katherine Phiefer and Renee Henderson; and special people in Williams’s life, Mike and Amy Crisp, Daniel and Pam Rabloy, and Shannon Shinn.

A Celebration of Williams’s Life will be on Sunday, March 10, at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Antonitis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
