Jeffrey Lynn Baker, 68, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

He was born on December 11, 1957, in Mooresville to the late Paul Norman Baker Sr. and Evelyn St. Clair Baker. Jeff graduated from Mooresville High School and received his associate degree from Rowan Tech.

Jeff began a distinguished 30-year career with the Mooresville Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief. His commitment and bravery in service earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the citizens he served. Following his retirement, he continued to find fulfillment in his work at Dale Earnhardt Inc., and his hobbies of traveling, motorcycle riding and Friday lunch bunch.

He was a devoted member of the Kannapolis Church of God, actively participating in the choir and showcasing his musical talent as a featured soloist. His love for music extended beyond the church, as he was an accomplished trombone player and co-leader of the New Life Ministries Group, inspiring and uplifting those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Morrow Baker.

Jeff is survived by his beloved daughter, Megan B. Overcash and her husband Stephen; his brother, Paul N. Baker Jr. and his wife Rene; brothers and sisters-in-law, Becky and Shawn Ervin, Marshall Morrow and Bill Hurt, and Judy Morrow; nephews, Andrew Baker and his wife Kristy, Alex Baker and his wife, Shelby; granddaughter, Paisleigh Overcash; and his faithful K-9 companion, Bandit.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, at Kannapolis Church of God with Rev. Dr. Greg Sloop officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
