Joan Marie Browning Adams passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on April 28, 2026, in Troutman, N.C.
Born April 15, 1947, in Mershon, Ky., to Asa Edward Browning and Virgie Marie Moore Browning, she was raised in Richmond and Centerville, Ind. She married the love of her life, Gerry Lee Adams, on October 29, 1964. She was the mother of two children, Angela Jean Adams and Gerry Lee Adams Jr., who loved her unconditionally. She worked hard and was extremely skilled in floral and plant arrangements, of which many know. A fond memory that her entire family and many friends can share is the time she and her husband were on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and she saw beautiful wildflowers planted in the median. She convinced her husband to pull to the side of the interstate so she could pick some for a bouquet, much to the dismay of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Joan is survived by her husband Gerry Adams; son Gerry Lee Adams Jr. (Mooresville, N.C.), sister Pam Browning (Indiana), grandchildren Meranda Adams (Charlotte, N.C.), Courtney Adams and her partner Joseph Nguyen (Irmo, S.C.), Lydia Adams (Mooresville/Raleigh, N.C.), Lauren and Kyle Kull (Harrisville, Ohio), Jeremy Robertson (Charlotte, N.C.), Kara and Bryan Doughty (Summerville, S.C.), Joshua and Addie Robertson (St. Clairsville, Ohio); and great-grandchildren Kade, Koen, Ada Lee Kull (Harrisville, Ohio), Caroline Belle Van Dyke, and Jake and Wyatt Lee Doughty (Summerville, S.C.).
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Angela Jean Adams (spouse Deborah Thomas, living in Ohio); her brothers, Thomas Browning (South Carolina) and Wayne Browning (spouse Kathy Browning, still living, Centerville, Ind.); and all grandparents.
No services are planned.
Arrangements for Joan Adams are in the care of Troutman Funeral Home.
