Michael Alan Gandy, 56, of Statesville, N.C., went home to the Lord on Friday, May 1, 2026. He was born in Mecklenburg County on November 10, 1968, to James Elven Gandy and Vickie Elaine Roberts Gandy. He was preceded in death by his father, James, and his Uncle, Charles Lawton Roberts. He was a graduate of Goose Creek High School, and he received a welding certification from the Oakley Vocational Center in South Carolina.
Mike was a workaholic, in the best sense of the word. He was in his 35th year at L. Gordon Iron & Metal Company where he was the Shredder Operations Manager. Mike fiercely loved his family, but that shredder was his baby. He worked when needed and even when he wasn’t. That was truly a testament to the type of person that Mike was — a helping hand to any and everyone. In his younger years, he was a volunteer at the Iredell County Rescue Squad. All of the hard work, dedication, and sacrifice that he displayed was truly for his family. Mike would walk through fire for his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and the Dallas Cowboys. In his spare time, Mike loved playing with his grandbabies (especially riding them around on his tractor), working on cars, riding his motorcycle on the open road, watching football, talking to his brother James whenever he got the chance, and anything pumpkin spice. Mike was a coach, at some point, to all of his children in softball, baseball, football, and even volleyball. Anywhere he went, he left an impact.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lori Bis Gandy; four children, Camie Pecararo, Ali Shea Gandy, Alexis Jeffreys (Parker), and Joseph Mason (Andrea); his grandchildren, Jayce Bravo, Alina Bravo, Lily Bravo, Angel Bravo, Laylah Tucker, Jaxon Tucker, Drew Mason, Forrest Jeffreys, and Blythe Jeffreys; his mother, Vickie Gandy; and his siblings, James Gandy (Dawn), Charles Gandy, Charles W. Roberts (Phyllis), Malinda Addington (Larry), and Mary Huato (Gabriel), and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 11, 2026, at Forest Park Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. with Reverend Walter Scott Jeffreys officiating. The family will host a visitation one hour prior to the service.
