Nelson “Louise” Pardue Muncus, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 18, 2026, after several years battle with dementia. Born in Yadkin County, but living most of her life in Winston-Salem, she spent her final years residing with her daughter in Mooresville, N.C.
Louise had an immense love and value of family and friends. She was a very loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, never too busy to serve others, whether it be a homecooked meal, a caregiver, a friend, a prayer warrior or serve in the many roles at her church, even though she worked a demanding swing-shift job as Supervisor at Owens-Illinois, until she retired at age 65.
She greatly enjoyed cooking, baking and crafting whatever was yet to be tried and mastered. She could whip out an effortless homecooked meal, whether over an open flame at a campsite, a wood cookstove in a cabin or an electric stove in her home. She always had hot food and deliciously moist cakes and desserts that were eagerly requested and enjoyed by all who knew her. And there was always room at her table for a few extras. After dinner, Louse was always an eager “yes” to be a highly competitive and savvy card player at any game of Rook, Spades, Gin or Canasta. She also loved a competitive game of Scrabble and spent long joyful hours at her puzzle table.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Romey Muncus; her parents, Marie Pardue Muncus and Roland Muncus; brother, Tony D Muncus, and sister-in-law, Alyce Gardner Muncus.
Survivors are her twin children, Randy Muncus of Jonesville and Sandy Muncus Mabry of Mooresville; sister, Brenda Muncus Hall and Al Broche’ of Jonesville; granddaughters, Demi Mabry-LaFratta and son-in-law Chance LaFratta of Charlotte, Erica Mabry and Phil Reed of Lynchburg, Morgan Mabry and Drew Jaeger, also of Lynchburg; and their beautiful (great grand) children, Jensen, Myles, Mason and Izzy. Also surviving are nephews Marty Muncus, his daughters, Gracie and Charli of Lewisville, and Jonathon and Paige Hall of Florida and daughter, Taylor. along with many other beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Of special mention and appreciation is Patricia King, a close family friend who helped provide amazing love and care for Louise in her last years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 30 at 3 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville. Family visitation time will be available between 2:30 and 3 p.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County. This organization provided amazing care in her last days and they were truly angels on earth!
