
Nikki Michelle McQueen, 53, of 1531 Melviney Street, Statesville, N.C., passed away at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Friday, May 8, 2026, unexpectedly. She was born in Guilford County on August 2, 1972, and was the daughter of the late Joan Belinda Lackey and Roman McQueen.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher McQueen; three uncles, Dwight Carvell Taylor, Jeffery Taylor, and Walter Alexander; her great grandmother, Ophelia Gregory; paternal grandmother, Mary McQueen; and a special cousin, Libby Gregory.
She was a graduate of Statesville Hiigh and was previously employed by Walmart Distribution.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life to one son, Preston (Courtney) Mathis of Statesville, N.C.; one brother, Patrick McQueen of Fayetteville, N.C; five sisters, Star McQueen, Shontell and Ebony McQueen, all of Newark, N.J., Carmen Friday and Crystal Wright, both of Charlotte, N.C; two grandchildren, Preston Mathis Jr. and Parker Mathis; three uncles, Travis (Pam) Hunt of Statesville, N.C., Reggie (Lorraine) Wilson, both of Salisbury N.C.; four aunts, Eutrilla Taylor of Detroit, Mich., Rene Robinson of Salisbury, N.C., Bridget Wilson of Burlington, N.C. and Priscilla (Tyrone) Mance of Statesville, N.C; one niece, Kenyanna (Donovan) Everhart of Sherrills Ford, N.C; nephews, Tevin (Elizabeth) Stevenson of Cleveland, N.C., Jaquan McQueen and Quincy Murdock, both of Statesville, N.C.; special friend Kevin Turner; a special niece, Shakeeta Turner; and special cousins, Tiffani Gregory and Larry Stovall; and a host of other family and friends.
