Ronald “Ron” Arthur Wenzel of Davidson, N.C., and formerly of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 20, 1942, in Crawfordsville, Ind., to Arthur Edward and Laura Van Paris Wenzel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Swanson Wenzel, and his sister Marilyn Hatch.

Ron was a graduate of Central High School in South Bend, Ind., where he met his wife. He then graduated from Purdue University with distinction in Mechanical Engineering. He had a successful 40-year career in engineering and plant management. He loved his work so much that he continued to seek a plant manager position until his last days!

Ron was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Mooresville, N.C. He was a lifelong avid golfer with a scratch handicap. Some of his fondest childhood memories were fishing with his dad and cousins. He will forever be remembered for the funny jokes and stories he shared.

Above all else, Ron treasured his family and the many memories made together, especially trips to the beach. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

He leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by his survivors, including his children, Ronald Arthur Wenzel Jr. (Betsy) of Cornelius, N.C., Robin Wenzel Blaney of Mooresville, N.C.; grandchildren, Laura Wenzel, Jacob Wenzel (Megan), Evan Wenzel, Alice Wenzel, John Blaney, Erin Blaney, and Rosa Somerville (Zach); great-grandchildren, Henry Wenzel, Savannah Somerville, Harper Somerville, and Samantha Somerville; sister Lorraine Andrysiak (Jim); physical therapist and dear friend Kelly Schrader; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services include a graveside service at Glenwood Memorial Park (273 Glenwood Drive, Mooresville, N.C.) on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at The Pines at Davidson (400 Avinger Lane, Davidson, NC 28036) at 2 p.m. (Room TBD). Please join us as you are able.
