Fourteen deaths in Iredell County have now been attributed to COVID-19.

The Iredell County Health Department reported the county’s 14th death on Monday as the total number of laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iredell surpassed 1,300. Local health officials do not release identifying information on those who have died from COVID-19.

Fifty-two new cases were reported in Iredell on Monday, increasing the total number in the county to 1,342. 

Meanwhile, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the county declined to 25 on Monday, down from 33 on Friday.

Some 453 people who have tested positive are now isolating at home, health officials said.

Another 850 people who have tested positive in Iredell are presumed recovered.

Across North Carolina, the number of laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 continues to rise as testing is more widely available. A total of 101,046 people have tested positive in the state, according to the N.C. Department of Health & Human Services.

There have been 1,642 deaths attributed to COVID-19 across the state, and 1,086 people are currently hospitalized in North Carolina.

More than 143,000 deaths in the United States have been attributed to COVID-19.
