The Statesville Police Department is investigating a traffic crash involving two Chevrolet pickup trucks on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Garner Bagnal Boulevard and Buffalo Shoals Road for the crash at about 4 p.m., according to an SPD news release.

According to a preliminary investigation, the vehicles crashed head-on, police said. Both drivers were transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem –- one by ambulance and the second via helicopter.

Neither vehicle had any occupants other than the drivers, police said.

No additional information was released.
