D’Angelo Malindsay Barker, 22, is charged with robbing an employee of the D&D Express/Market Basket at 1504 Salisbury Road on May 6.

Following a two-month search by SPD officers, Barker was located at Signal Hill Apartments, according to Statesville Police Chief David Onley. Barker was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where a magistrate set his bond at $100,000.

According to police, witnesses stated a subject came into the store completely covered from head to toe and acting strange on May 6.  The suspect stayed in the store for a while playing games.

After he heard the store clerk open the cash register, the man pulled out pistol from his waistband, pointed it at the clerk, and told her to give him the money, police said.

Based on the witness statements, video surveillance and physical evidence collected, Barker was identified as the suspect. A warrant for his arrest was obtained on May 26.

On Tuesday, SPD investigators Beck received information from N.C. Probation personnel that Barker was located at the Signal Hill Apartments. Members of the SPD Investigations Division and additional officers responded to the apartment complex in an attempt to locate Barker. He was found hiding in a closet at this location and was taken into custody without incident, police said.
