A Florida woman faces felony drugs after being stopped by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy for a traffic violation.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Toni Nicole Sutton, 29, of Jensen Beach, Fla., in a news release Wednesday.

On Friday, January 13, Deputy C. Wilson, who is assigned to the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Knox Farm for a traffic violation, Campbell said.

 While Deputy Wilson was speaking with Sutton, Deputy C. Moncus and Canine Bosco walked around the vehicle.

After Bosco gave a positive indication for the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, deputies searched the vehicle and located heroin and drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.

Sutton was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where she was charged with felony possession of heroin, felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, and two misdemeanor drug offenses.

Magistrate Thompson issued a $7,500 secured bond.
