Troutman Town Councilman Nicholas Jaroszynski has been convicted of reckless driving to endanger in Craven County District Court.

Judge Andrew Wigmore found Jaroszynski, 40, guilty and ordered him to pay $193 in court costs following a trial for the Class 2 misdemeanor on April 27. He was also found responsible for making an illegal right turn on red.

A N.C. State Highway Patrol trooper issued Jaroszynski a citation on October 17, 2025, for making an illegal right turn and operating a motor vehicle “without due caution and circumspection and at a speed or manner so as to endanger persons and property,” according to court records.

The trooper also reported a strong smell of a controlled substance coming from Jaroszynski’s Mercedes Benz SUV during the 7:55 a.m. traffic stop. The councilman was not charged with DWI.

Jaroszynski has appealed the conviction to Craven County Superior Court.

In March, the councilman avoided prosecution on a charge of resisting an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy who responded to assist with a reported road rage incident in Troutman in February 2025.

That misdemeanor charge was dismissed on March 17 after Jaroszynski completed 24 hours of community service as part of an informal conditional discharge agreement with the District Attorney’s Office.
