Margaret A. Boardman, age 105, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

She was born in La Porte, Ind., on October 20, 1914, to Harry and Elizabeth (Hug) Conrad and lived in La Porte for 93 years, at which time she moved to Mooresville, N.C., to live with her son and daughter-in-law and to be near her granddaughter, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She became a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Mooresville.

After Margaret retired, she spent many years doing volunteer work. She was a lifelong member of her beloved St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was a member of Circle 7, St. John’s Senior Group, and Funeral Committee.

On September 21, 1935, she married Robert Boardman, who passed away on January 21, 2006. She was very blessed to have 70 years with her beloved husband. In 2015 Margaret moved to Carillon Assisted Living (now Cadence). She enjoyed her stay there. She also enjoyed Pastor Keck’s visits.

Surviving are one son, Ronald (Marilyn) of Mooresville, N.C.; one daughter, Jacqueline (Donald) Gorr of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; three granddaughters, Susan (Boardman) Leone (Dan) of Mooresville, N.C., Diane Gorr Janes (Lonny) of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Michelle Hill of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; six great grandchildren, Brittany James Young (Zack) of Mooresville, N.C., Justin Leone (Haily) of Mooresville, N.C., Rachelle Janes Mills (Bryce) of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Brooke Janes Johnson (Ian) of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Zavier Janes of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Samantha and Sophie Hill of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; four great-great grandchildren, Kaelyn James, Mattox and Lexington Claire Leone of Mooresville, N.C., and Jackson Mills of Ft. Wayne, Ind.

Proceeding her in death were her beloved husband, Robert; her parents, Harry and Elizabeth Conrad; brother, Harry Conrad; sisters, Edna Paul, Dorothy Glasgow and Harriet Buss; and one great grandson, Luke Evan Hill.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 23, from 3 to 4 p.m. with a service following at 4 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dave Keck officiating. A Celebration of Life will also be held at a later date at Haverstock Funeral Home in La Porte, Ind.
