Eugene “Gene” Vernon Myers, 79, of Statesville, N.C., was finally reunited with the love of his life, Gladys Myers, on Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Eugene was born November 6, 1940, in Tazewell, Va., to the late Myrtle and Ray Myers.

Eugene married his best friend and wife of 55 years, Gladys Myers. Together they had two children who survive, daughter Diane Rominger and son Carl Ray Myers (Angie Cherry). She is also survived by a brother, Arnold Myers, and sister ,Carolyn Green (Franky); grandchildren Christina Lafond (Cory), Tiffany Spencer, Luke Rominger and Amber Myers; and great-grandchildren; Halle Ireland, Haydn Spencer and Owen Lafond.

Eugene was a supervisor at Superba Print Works for 45 years. He loved to work on cars and lawnmowers. He loved his family and was a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He could always make others smile or laugh regardless of the circumstances. He always notably said “If tomorrow don’t come, we don’t have to worry about it.”

A vistation for Eugene will be held Friday, August 28, 2020, from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Mack Mathis officiating. Eugene will be laid to rest beside his wife that he so dearly missed at Iredell Memorial Garden on Wednesday, September 2, at 1 p.m.
