Mr. Kenneth Wayne Bailey Sr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., departed into eternity on January 2, 2020, at Penrose St. Francis hospital in Colorado Springs.
Kent, as he was affectionately called, was born in Iredell County on July 22, 1956, to the late Juanita Johnson Allen and Wilford Bailey. Kenneth attended Iredell County schools and graduated from West Iredell High school in 1975. He attended Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs and graduated with a degree in business administration.
At a early age, Kenneth joined the army. He served his country faithfully for 14 years. Kent was a fun-loving person that never met a stranger. He was a hard worker, a dedicated father, a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Juanita Johnson Allen; his maternal grandmother, Creola Johnson; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Curlee Bailey; his adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Turner Bailey; his adoptive brother, Tim Bailey; his brother, Lee Bailey Millsaps; his aunt, Francis Johnson Garner; and two uncles, Thomas Johnson and Paul Curlee Bailey.
Left to cherish the memory of his life are his loving parents, Rev. Wilford and Ophelia Bailey; five children, Kenya Howze of Charlotte, N.C., Chasidy (Caderis) Heath of Cleveland, N.C., Kenneth (Angela) Bailey Jr. of Colorado Springs Colo., Terrell James Bailey (Aimee) of Colorado Springs Colo., and Ebony Bailey of Temple, Texas; six grandchildren, Amber (Josh) Joyce of Charlotte, N.C., Myleek Green of Charlotte, N.C., Nicholas (Elizabeth) Stevenson of Cleveland, N.C., Dominic Corrales of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jonyce Bailey of Colorado Springs, Colo., and one unborn grandchild of Temple Texas. Also surviving ar four great granddaughters, Tori Stevenson, Jayden Stevenson and Khloe Stevenson, all of Cleveland, N.C., and Parker Joyce of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Deborah (Edward) Nesbit and Joy Bailey Dorty, both of Troutman, N.C.; two brothers, Barney Bailey Sr. of Statesville, N.C., and Christopher (Lynette) Bailey of Chicago, Ill.; sister-in-law, Beverly Howell Millsaps of Taylorsville, N.C.; two aunts, Deanie Bailey of Statesville, N.C., and Evelyn (John) Horton of Charlotte, N.C.; two uncles, Leonard (Wilma) Bailey Sr. of Statesville, N.C., and Eugene (Angela) Bailey of Rocky Mount, N.C.; two nieces, Tiffany Millsaps of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Brittany Watts Hawblitz of Mooresville, N.C.; two nephews, Barney (Tyreki) Bailey Jr. and Edward Nesbit Jr., and both of Statesville N,C. He was married twice — to Janice Bailey of Petersburg, Va., and Kay Francis Gaylor Bailey of Colorado Springs, Colo. Special cousins are June Stewart, Janet Garner, Jackie Wellman and Denise St. Martin. He is also survived by many other cousins, relatives and friends.
The family will assemble at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Bailey at 872 Bailey Farm Road Statesville, N.C.
