Mr. Derryck Duane “Drack” Turner Sr., 48, of 308 North Lackey Street, Statesville, N.C., passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 5, 2021, following a brief illness. He was born on January 11, 1973, and was the son of Ricky Turner and Shelby Holland Gaither. He was married to Laura Ijames Turner, who survives.

Mr. Turner attended the Iredell County Schools and prior to his illness was employed by the City of Statesville. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Juanita Holland Gaither; his paternal grandmother, Claudene Turner; and his paternal grandfather, Clarence Turner.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his wife, Laura Ijames Turner of the home; two daughters, Shacobee Turner and Jameka Stevenson, both of Statesville; three sons, Derryck Turner Jr., Quadarius Stevenson and Jarell Duline Williams, all of Statesville; a step-son, Tavares “T.J.” Kennedy of Statesville; his father, Ricky Turner of Statesville; his mother, Shelby Holland Gaither; his paternal grandfather, Jack Gaither of Statesville; his sister, Tega Turner of Statesville; his brother-in-law, Mitchell Ijames; ten grandchildren, Derryck Duane Turner III, Dakota Duane Turner, D’Asia Turner, Zai’Vion Turner, Makhila Teasley, Lauryn Chambers, Livia Chambers, Melia Roseboro, Aiden Turner, and Naloni Turner; three nephews, Deon Turner, Teon Robinson and Malachi Turner; one niece, Ty’Sheanna Turner; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
