Sister Ethel Pugh Morrison was born on April 17, 1927, in Grove Hill, Ala., to the late Wesley Pugh and Stella Pugh. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at her home in Florida following an extended illness.

She was educated in the Birmingham Public Schools and was reared in Birmingham, Ala. She joined First Baptist Church in Greymont under the leadership of the Rev. R. M. Joseph. She later moved to Statesville, N.C., where she joined Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. C. Graham, later Rev. V. Thompson, and later Rev. Charles Mingo. She was instrumental in starting various youth activities. In her early adult life, she worked at a domestic worker in the early 1970s. She was employed at Bernhardt Furniture for over 22 years.

She was united in marriage to Roscoe Morrison, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Wesley, Curtis, Alton and Jessie Pugh, and two sisters, Bernice Huffman and Lillie Peoples.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life one daughter, Clara J. Parker, with whom she made her home; a devoted son-in-law, Gene E. Parker with whom she made her home; grandchildren, Gene (Denise), Alicia and Kio Koski; great grandchildren, Devontae, Alexis, Alinaly, and Alaura; great great grandchildren, Jayden and Leyeunesse; sisters-in-law, Ruby Jean Pugh, JoCarolyn Morrison, Annie Mmorrison, and Joan Morrison; special adopted cousin, Mary Helen Moten; special recognition, Ms. Barbara Morrison, Robert and Brenda Tanner, and last but not least, the McDowell Family; and an adopted son, Pat Ennis.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday morning, November 19, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Dietrich M. Danner will officiate and burial will follow in the Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
