Joan Marie Szanyi Peyton passed away on April 16 2021.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 28, 1932, to the late William and Helen Szanyi. She was raised and lived most of her life in Michigan, where she married James Peyton in 1954. Her greatest joy was being a mother to her three girls and her love was greatly felt and returned.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters Gail Markgraf (Deryl) of Colleyville Texas, Karen Hood (Danny) of Chapin, S.C., and Janice Clayton (Dan) of Mooresville. Her grandchildren are Sonja White (Nathan), Jason Caughron (Dana), Stancil Hood (Courtney), William DiMaggio (Jessie), Matthew Whitmill (Amber), Kendall Thompson (David) and Brian Clayton. She also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents whom she remained devoted to until the end of their lives, and an infant brother William.

There will be a private graveside service at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to her favorite charity, the American Heart Association, would be appreciated.
