Raymond Edgar “Ed” Williams, 85, of Mocksville, N.C., died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, with his loving wife by his side until the end.

Mr. Williams was born November 2, 1936, in Davie County, N.C., and was the son of the late Clyde Henry and Zeola McDaniel Williams. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sybil Williams; brother, Sonny Williams; step grandson, Charles Eric Williams; two nephews; his previous wife; and a stepson.

Ed worked his way up as supervisor for Hall-Turner Heating & Cooling until his retirement. After retiring, he picked up part-time jobs to pass the time and later cared for his last wife until her death. Ed loved trips to the beach and fishing. He loved doing updates to his home and gardening. He enjoyed his drives to College Barbeque in Salisbury for breakfast where he soon became good friends with the staff. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. Ed was always the first to introduce himself to a new neighbor, greeting them with a box full of vegetables from his garden, gaining a new friend for life.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Ann Lackey Williams; son, Eddie Lee Williams; stepson, Jimmy Williams; two step granddaughters, Tina (Randy) Boyles and Rebecca (Michael) Lucas; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, La Verne Williams Sullivan; niece, Kathy Smith (Mike); nephew, Perry Williams (Vicky); and great nephew, Caleb Williams. From his prior wife, he has a stepson, two stepdaughters, eight step grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren and five step great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Society Baptist Church, 879 Garden Valley Road, Statesville, N.C. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Society Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesville.
