Robert Shumaker peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the age of 47 after a courageous battle with ALS, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

His battle with this serious medical issue in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Robert came out a hero and an inspiration and stayed strong and positive until the end.

Robert is survived by the love of his life, his wife Stephanie. He was a proud daddy to a beautiful daughter, Vida, who inherited his quick wit and love for adventure. He was a good son of Beth and Mikie Shumaker, a wonderful nephew to Bill and Glenda Mintz, and grandson to Vida Ruth “Mawmaw” Mintz, whom he loved like a mother. Robert was also survived by his half siblings, David, Christopher, and Nicole; and all the many friends he considered his family.

Robert was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life, and a firm understanding of how important the simplicity was of living a life with the people you love, and for him it was with his family and closest friends. He wrote his own rules and was admired for his wit and random knowledge of almost everything.

A Celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Eddie Karriker officiating.
