Roy Lee Harris, 90, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House. He was born April 1, 1932, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Roy Lee Harris Sr. and Beulah Barker Harris.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Harris.

He was a 1950 graduate of Harmony High School. After graduation, Roy joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served four years in active duty. He served 16 years in the U.S. Air Force National Guard. He also served several years in the U.S. Army National Guard and retired as a SGT Major.

Roy was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church. Mooresville. He was a member of Mooresville Masonic Lodge #496 AF&AM. He served as Master of the Lodge four times.

Roy was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of Oasis Shiners, Charlotte, charter member and past President of the Lake Norman Shrine Club. He was also a former member and past president of the Mooresville Rotary Club.

Roy retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he served as Postmaster in Black Mountain, N.C. He retired working in Quality Control with the Postal Service in Columbia, S.C.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Audry Hensley Harris; sons, Sidney Harris (Karen), and Roger Harris; daughter, Ada H. Nicolay (John); sister, Phyllis Harris Harris; brother, R.C. Harris (Carolyn); grandchildren, Joey and Kelly; and four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his daughter’s two stepchildren and four grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, November 19, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Hicks officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow the service in Glenwood Memorial Park with full military honors.
