Mr. Herbert Lincoln Mayberry, 92, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on May 6, 1931, to the late Dave and Hattie Hartsol Mayberry. He departed this life on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Gordan Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.

Herbert attended school in Iredell County and after graduation served his country in the United States Army. Before he retired he was employed with the government as a bank home loan officer in Washington, D.C. On June 8, 1984, he was united in marriage to Louria A. Ramsey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two daughters, Geraldine Coleman and Regina Mayberry; six brothers, Campbell Mayberry, Leroy Mayberry, Emmet Mayberry, Henry Mayberry, Walter Mayberry, and Franklin Mayberry; and five sisters, Nellie Millsaps, Mildred Nixon, Vallie Campbell, Ailene Brown, and Martha Mayberry.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his wife, Louria A. Mayberry of the home; one daughter, Sonia (Archie) Powell of Woodstock, Ga.; two stepchildren, Rex (Lisa) Ramsey and Carmen Renee Thompson, both of Wisconsin; two godchildren, Jeriah (Teresa) Hayden of Statesville and Belonda (Rayvon) Barringer of Charlotte; a special niece and caregiver, Brenda Brown of Statesville; two brothers-in-law, Herman Ramsey of Wisconsin and Emmitt Ramsey of Wisconsin; his best friend and dog, Prince Francois Mayberry; other family, including Kenneth Bailey and Kristol Bailey, Dionne (Stephen) Bailey of Virginia; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh AME Zion Church in Statesville, N.C. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church. Reverend Jimmy Griffin will be officiating and Reverend Doctor Patricia A. Gainer will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be Monday June 26, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Iredell Memorial Park Cemetery.
